The Wellington occupies one of the most reputable locations in Madrid, on the corner of Velázquez and Villanueva streets in the district of Salamanca.
Most of the staff at the hotel have worked there for years, if not decades. Service here is professional and formal and you feel like you are in safe hands. There is an engaging outdoor pool with day beds and loungers.
The Wellington houses several superb restaurants. There is Kabuki, which has a Michelin star, for lovely Japanese food. Head to Goizeko for stylish Basque cuisine, on an attractive terrace by the pool. Breakfast is a lavish affair with an large buffet with ham on the bone, smoked salmon, cheese, yogurts, eggs and gluten-free items. Guests in rooms that are part of the Wellington Club can also have a buffet breakfast in the very enjoyable club lounge.
